Laos
Laos is a country of stunning natural beauty and strong tradition, which up to now remains relatively unexplored.
Much of the country is comprised of striking mountain ranges, valleys and thick rainforest, and not forgetting the mighty Mekong River. Laos’ charm lies not only in the abundance of nature, but also in the friendliness of it’s people.
When to go
Laos has three basic seasons. The monsoon period lasts from May to November. After the monsoon there is a dry period from November through to March. From March until the approaching monsoon the country experiences its hottest weather. The best time to visit Laos is between November and February when there is less chance of heavy rain and the temperature is cooler.

What to do
Stunning natural beauty is everywhere, from the 4000 Islands bordering Cambodia in the south, to the mountainous northern regions bordering Thailand, China and Vietnam. Great trekking options exist, as does the opportunity of lazing your days away swinging in a hammock on the banks of the Mekong River. Ancient temples and French colonial architecture collide to provide a truely memorable trip.
Language
The official language spoken in Laos is Laotian or Lao. Thai is also understood due to radio and tv programmes. English is recognised in major areas, but don’t expect to be understood everywhere. So why not download an audio Lao phrasebook to help you on your way.
Money
The Kip is the official currency of Laos. All major currencies can be exchanged at banks and Money Changers.
