Luang Prabang Essentials
If you are short of time, take a few days to explore this great city, taking in the sights of Phou Sii Hill, Wat Visoun and the Thad Makmo stupa. The National Museum, once a royal palace, is home to many artefacts of days gone by. Early morning Alms are given to the monks who walk in procession through the streets, a traditional sight and one well worth seeing
Heading out of the city head north along the Mekong to Pak Ou Caves, home to thousands of images of Buddha. Khuang Sii Waterfall is also close by where the water cascades into a series of torqoise pools, a very relaxing spot.
Elephants, Biking and Trekking
This 2 day adventure makes a great add-on to any Luang Prabang visit.
Combine cycling, trekking, elephant riding and boat rides for a unique way to soak up the lush forests surrounding the Mekong river. Seeing the amazing landscape pass sat on these huge beasts certainly adds a different perspective. You can even choose to stay overnight in one of the luxury villas for a truely awesome experience.
